Essen welcome sign (Am Hauptbahnhof 2)
At least that’s the name on Google Maps for the large and well-known rooftop installation, which is directly opposite the main railway station. Unfortunately, it was not in operation during my stay in Essen. (September 2024)
Haus der Technik (Hollestrasse 1)
The lettering “Haus der Technik” is found on both the northern and southern parts of the building’s western façade (towards Willi-Brandt-Platz). Both installations are visibly defective and out of order. (September 2024)
Deutsche Pfandkredit AG (Hollestrasse 1)
On the first floor of the same building as the “Haus der Technik”, there is lettering and a stylized diamond above the shop windows. The installations are out of service. (September 2024)
Cinema “Lichtburg” (Kettwiger Strasse 36)
In the entrance area of the cinema from 1928, which has the largest cinema auditorium in Germany, there are luminous white tubes in round and straight shapes on the ceiling. The actual light blue color of the gas (presumably carbon dioxide) can be clearly seen here. (September 2024)
